[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-image:url(http://i56.tinypic.com/2zgu9hc.jpg); width: 440px; padding-top:10px;]just chasing the wind --- today was one of those odd days when taryn didn’t have any classes, which meant she spent the majority of her day at skyshot, doing whatever it was they told her to do. oh the life of an intern, constantly getting told to do this and do that. it didn’t bother her though. she was one of those weird kids who actually enjoyed being an intern. this job gave her a glimpse at what life could be like if she ended up doing something in music industry. whether she would or not was to be determined by the future and the opportunities that came to her after college. of course she’d love to end up working in the music industry, but if she ended up somewhere else she was sure that she would enjoy it just the same. however, she really did see a future for herself in the music industry. even if she didn’t working for some kind of record label, she could always do something in photography or videography. she would enjoy those jobs just as much, if not more even, than she would enjoy working directly for a label. there were a lot of options for her out there, she just had to figure out which one was calling to her.
after leaving skyshot for the day, taryn headed out into the city. she hated going home early, mostly because she hated being in the apartment by herself. if she wasn’t so nervous about what kind of response she’d get, she’d post an ad for a roommate. knowing her luck though, some serial rapist would respond and move in just to take advantage of her. okay, so she was little paranoid about things. it was just in her nature. that was one of the reasons she wanted a roommate though. having someone else around would make her feel a lot safer. she’d always liked the idea of living with a guy, because she knew that he would be able to keep her safe. her last roommate had been a girl, but she’d had her boyfriend over so much that he had practically turned into a third roommate. that didn’t bother taryn any. he was a nice guy, and it wasn’t like they showed out in front of her. plus having a guy around so often took away a bit of her paranoia. for some reason, wandering around the city by herself didn’t bother her. it was mostly due to the fact that there were typically a lot of people around, so if anything were to happen to her at least there would be witnesses and maybe a few good samaritans. not only that, due to her small height of just an inch over five feet, she could easily get swallowed by a large crowd, making it hard to pick her out.
walking around the city by herself was peaceful in a weird kind of way. it was just her and her camera, taking pictures of strangers and other interesting things. taryn liked to capture people on film, no matter who they were. it was fascinating to catch that certain facial expression, even if it was someone you never spoke to. she was a people watcher. as she watched the world around her, she liked to imagine where that person was going, who they were talking to on the phone, and what was going on in their life. why were they in a hurry? why did they seem upset? why was he smiling so brightly? the unknown appealed to her, and if she could she’d sit each person down and ask them their story. this wasn’t something that was easily done though, mostly because people would find that strange. no one really seemed interested in sitting down with someone they had never met and telling them about themself. this was probably why a lot of people seemed annoyed with taryn, but she couldn’t help what fascinated her. she’d tried to talk to a stranger once, but they’d just given her a strange look and walked away. it was at that point that she quit asking people if she could take their picture. she just did it. candids were a lot more interesting than posed photos anyway.
before too long, taryn found herself in one of the cities many parks. she spent a lot of time in parks, sitting and watching what everyone was doing. there were children, dogs, adults just walking around. it was pretty much the ideal spot for a people watcher to go to. smiling to herself, she sat down on a bench with her camera placed softly in her lap. every now and then she’d snap a picture of someone as they went by her, most of them not even noticing that she was there. what was going on their heads that kept them from noticing the people around them? it was odd to her that people could live without looking at the world near them while that was all she ever did. letting out a small sigh, she brought her legs up to sit indian style on the bench. every now and then someone would glance at her, and she’d give them a small smile. other than that, she was pretty much on her own.

L.A. wasn't that bad. Sure, it was no Columbus, OH. But it did a good job trying, and it wasn't it's fault. Kasey just had a serious soft spot for his home town, and nothing was going to change that, no matter if L.A. had stunning weather all year long. It was this stunning weather that had Kasey currently staring out his window, like a puppy with his nose pressed against the glass. He hated sitting indoors -- wait, he didn't mind it as long as there was a wicked game of Halo and a bowl of weed waiting for him, but today was so pretty. He'd be damned if he was going to sit inside, however, he hadn't practiced in a few days and felt like he should at least touch a guitar. He almost felt bad about neglecting his guitar. He was usually so attached to it, but he'd been so busy lately that he'd forgotten. Well, okay, two of those nights were completely drunken, and one was spent at a friends house, but whatever. He felt bad, he felt guilty. Kasey hated feeling guilty, he wasn't the sort of guy who could handle that sort of thing. He knew lots of guys who hid everything about themselves, and acted like jerks just because they were scared of emotion or whatever...Kasey thought that was absolute insanity. Why be anything less than what you are? Kasey was pretty sure he had a good handle on himself. He was a bit of a bumbling idiot when it came to matters of the heart, but who wasn't? And he did have a bit of an indecisive streak, but -- maybe he just liked to weigh his options. What was the word? Contemplative. He was contemplative.
He was also ambitious. After putting five solid years of work into The Quarter Club, he finally felt like they were heading in the right direction and picking up momentum. And he loved them...genuinely, he loved every single member of his band. They were his family, and out here, far away from his hometown, they were all he had to remind himself of where he was from and who he was. He didn't want to see L.A. or fame change him, or really any of his band members. So far, it seemed like they'd managed to hold on to the things that were important to them. He didn't see Quincy or Teddy changing before his eyes, and in fact, he didn't see them changing ever. Kasey did know that if Quincy decided to change, there wouldn't be any stopping that stubborn bastard, he didn't do anything he didn't want to do. Made it hard to work with him sometimes, but Kasey usually let his prickly attitude roll off his back. And Teddy was just the mellowest guy he knew, and older. Somehow Kasey felt like his two years of age gave him more wisdom. The truth was that these guys had grown together, and Kasey doubted that there was anyone in the world who knew them as well as he did.
Kasey didn't have a particular place he was looking to go to, so he just grabbed his guitar and put it in it's case, and left his place. He didn't have a clue where he was going, but he figured he'd know it when he saw it. The streets in L.A. were always entertaining, there were always hobos and drug addicts dragging themselves around. His cell phone made a noise and he let it play for a moment, enjoying the upbeat little song it made until someone made a face at him. Like he was the crazy one for wanting to hear his ring tone. He stopped on a corner and read the message he'd just gotten, shrugging and putting the phone away, and on vibrate. He and the guys had a meeting on monday with the people at Relapse, and he hoped they were going to greenlight an album. They had a million ideas and a million songs that just needed to be laid down, and personally Kasey was itching to get touring. That was his favorite part, that crazy pace, playing for people and meeting new fans. He loved it so much that he often drove everyone else crazy with his hyperactivity. Kasey couldn't help himself, he just had a zest for life.
He'd managed to find a park, which was perfect. Sometimes, he liked just sitting on a bench and playing for a few hours. Although people always tried to give him money, and he liked that, but he didn't really need it. The label had him set up fairly well. However, he did like playing for people, and that was really the only payment he needed. He saw her before she saw him. Kasey knew Taryn liked to people watch, and she was so busy watching everyone else she'd missed him. He was wearing a hat after all, covering up that loud orange hair on his head long enough that he could sneak around her, and stand behind the bench she was sitting on. He cleared his throat loudly, a grin on his face.
" What are you, some kind of perverted voyeur?" He said and with that same silly grin on his face, he set his guitar down and jumped over the back of the bench to land next to her on the small wooden thing. " Miss Taryn. How do you do?"

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-image:url(http://i56.tinypic.com/2zgu9hc.jpg); width: 440px; padding-top:10px;]just chasing the wind --- after growing up in a place like las vegas, the somewhat refreshing air of los angelas was something taryn really enjoyed. besides the fact that she wasn’t too comfortable in her apartment, this was why she spent so much time out in the la sun. if there was one thing that she actually enjoyed about vegas though, it would have to be the great chances she had to people watch. when she was growing up, she spent a lot of time wandering around her parents’ casino. they were almost always there doing some sort of business, which gave taryn the chance to explore the place. if you ever want to see the widest variety of people possible, walk around a casino in vegas. you had your tourist, who just wanted to see what the big deal was. you had your big shots, who had enough money to buy the place if they wanted to. then there were the addicts, which branches out on its own. some were addicted to gambling, and they were quite easy to pick out. then there were your drug addicts, who somehow stumbled in off the street. you also had the drunks, who spent most of their time at the bar before losing all of their money in the slots. it was an interesting place for a kid to grow up, but that was what taryn had. part of her blamed the creepy guys who watched her walk around the place for her paranoia now, seeing as she was almost always convinced that someone was going to be waiting in her apartment for her. let’s just say if a friend were to throw a surprise party, they’d regret it once they got hit over the head with a vase.
la was a lot nicer though, which was kind of shocking seeing as la wasn’t all that nice either. there were plenty of creeps around here too, but most of them were looking for celebrities to kidnap and run away with. good thing taryn wasn’t famous, even if some people would argue that she was somewhat famous. but just because she had a few famous friends didn’t make her famous. at least not in her mind. no one was asking for her picture or autograph, and until they did she wouldn’t classify herself as famous. even then she probably wouldn’t. regardless, la was a nice place for her to be. she loved the friends she’d made here, and the fact that it was possible she could make a career here made it even better. even if she didn’t end up in the music business, she could always go into photography here. after all, that was how she spent most of her free time anyway. photography and painting, although she highly doubted that painting would take her anyway. it was kind of sad, considering she loved it so much. but most of her paintings just ended up hanging on the walls in her apartment anyway. there was no sell value in them, at least she assumed. she’d actually never attempted to sell one. in her mind, they weren’t worth much. they were just weird things she did whenever she got bored or let her emotions get too involved with her mind. it was relaxing, letting her emotions come out onto a canvas. that was why most of the paintings she ended up with didn’t make much sense.
sitting on this random park bench, watching various types of people around her felt right. if she could make a career out of this, she would. well, she could be a profiler, but that would take a lot more schooling and probably a bit of moving. plus, she wasn’t even sure if something like the bau actually existed outside of the tv. it made for a good show though, and she would always love sitting down to watch criminal minds. sometimes she wondered if she could actually do what they do, but it all seemed farfetched. the stories she made up in her head about these people were far from what the bau was doing in this show. so she’d just stick to the little stories she came up with. like the girl and boy sitting a few feet away in the grass, who were dating. maybe they weren’t, but in taryn’s mind they were. and if they weren’t then they should be, because she’d already snuck some incredibly cute couple photos of them. at the moment, she had her camera raised to take another one, but her action was interrupted by the sound of someone clearing their throat behind her. she jumped, barely hanging onto her camera as she did. after turning to see who had scared her, she narrowed her eyes in a somewhat playful manner. it was kasey, a goofy grin plastered on his face, obviously quite proud of himself. as he jumped over the bench, taryn turned her attention back to the couple. with a small shrug, she simply replied, ”hm. i guess i am aren’t i?” before snapping another picture of the completely oblivious couple. her voice had an uninterested tone to it, as if she could careless that she was some perverted voyeur. it was more interesting to let it slide than it was to deny. plus, she knew she had no interest in watching two people actually get it on anyway. ”i do fine,” she told him with a smile as she placed her camera in her lap, sitting back a little. ”you know, i would have seen you if you weren’t hiding.” she pulled his hat from his head, reaching up to ruffle his bright orange hair before sitting the hat on the other side of her. ”that’s better.” she gave a small smile and nod, satisfied. ”what about you? how are you?” she looked back down at her camera, messing with some buttons before letting it rest in her lap once again, turning her attention to him.
