right now i feel like i am losing control
touring was something new and exciting for chelsea. she was notorious for hopping from one thing to the next, and honestly this job couldn't be more perfect... nor could it come at a more confusing time. things at the office had gotten a little weird - she had been hanging out with hayden channing more than she had expected, and it was obvious that her boss wasn't too happy about it. when she signed up to be hot seeker's photographer it was completely innocent - sure, she thought hayden was cute and all, but really she just liked the band and wanted to be on tour. her intentions had been questioned multiple times by multiple people, but honestly chelsea didn't care. hayden was her friend, and even if she thought he was absolutely adorable, he had been sending her such mixed signals that she wasn't sure if he was even interested in her. she probably deserved it, as she had done the same thing to other guys in the past, but there were too many feelings of confusion around the bus at this time. luckily she had work to keep her preoccupied, and taking pictures was the best therapy that she could think of. paired with the ability to explore a new venue every day, well, this summer was turning into the best one she'd ever had regardless of her love life or situation with terry. at least, that's what she had hoped - because if she had to leave the tour, well, she'd be screwed, as she was sub-leasing her apartment temporarily to get a little extra cash while she was out here.
chels sat on the couch of the bus, camera in hand, looking through the photos that she had been taking over the past few days. it was amazing to be working with moving subjects, as she had been limited to studio portraits for the longest time. she smiled as she landed on a picture she had taken of hayden mid-drum solo - there was that adorable crooked smile planted on his face, and even if it wasn't the best shot she'd ever taken, she knew she wanted to show it to him. he was quickly becoming her favorite subject to shoot, as he always had something new to show her. it was no surprise that he was a boy of many layers, and every time she talked to him she seemed to peel back another one, and one day she hoped to actually see the true hayden... after all, she liked what she saw so far. he didn't put up with any of her bullshit, and it was refreshing to have a friend who's main focus wasn't getting in her pants - which was apparent, as he could go for days without talking to her, and liked to blow her off every once in a while. she assumed it was his way of letting her know that he wasn't as infatuated with her as many others were, and even if it was annoying to not always get what she wanted... it was kind of nice at the same time. besides, she really wanted to know what made him tick - what made him act the way he did, why he'd flirt with other girls instead of her. hayden channing was a mystery, and chelsea was determined to get to the bottom of it.
a few moments later she pulled out her phone, looking through her recent text messages til she found his name. wanna watch a movie with me? oh, and there's something i want to show you. she typed out quickly, staring at the text for a few minutes before hitting send. she hoped that the last bit would peak his interest, and that he'd come back to the bus from wherever he was to come spend some time with her. it was weird, she was actually starting to develop some feelings for him - something she hadn't done in a long time, or at least, hadn't noticed. usually she'd date a guy, and then the tingling feeling in her stomach would disappear after a few more dates, and eventually she'd move on to someone else, someone who made those butterflies last a little longer. she lived for that rush, the feeling of being in like with someone. when hayden was being hot and cold, ignoring her for a few days or whatever it was that he was currently doing to drive her insane, she couldn't think about anybody else. usually, she could let things go. but with him, it was a completely different story. chelsea readjusted herself on the couch, wondering if maybe she should go change her clothes into something cuter, or if he would see right through that and call her out on it. she fiddled with her camera a little more, scrolling past some candids that she snapped of zephyr, or the ones of the band's signing that she had taken earlier that day.

hayden didn't know where to put chelsea in his life. ever since she'd done pictures for him that one afternoon, the girl continued to show up. at a party, local shows, he'd even bumped into her the day he'd gone to stock up on pop-tarts and water bottles. along the way they'd obviously exchanged numbers, but hayden wasn't one to dwell on it. she was a nice girl, a stunningly gorgeous girl, and she knew it. he could see by the twinkle in her eyes and the way she carried herself, she knew. she was all too aware that guys were out to get her. confidence was attractive to hayden, but he'd heard about chelsea. he was guarding himself from her. hayden had figured out a long time ago that he didn't exactly like girls with her habits. perhaps it wasn't fair for hayden to think that way. he wasn't much of a genuine guy either. the drummer loved the opposite gender, and he'd had his fair share of hook-ups and past relationships. he was beginning to grow out if it, but he couldn't help but feel the pot was calling the kettle black.
unfortunately, the photographer was different. he liked to hang out with her. recently they'd been spending more time together. she was new to the way things worked and he'd made it his job to take her under his wing, kinda show her around. it was fun, chelsea had so many unique quirks. she made him laugh and he wouldn't deny they had some sort of chemistry going for them. what to do with it was a whole other ball game. he felt a little guilty lately, he wasn't being much of a gentleman to chelsea. he was developing a habit of making plans with her and then blowing her off or completely forgetting. it always resulted in him feeling like a jerk and taking her out for chinese or a movie on their day off. and then there was the subject of her boss. he'd heard some things around, supposedly the head honcho wasn't too thrilled about his beloved employee getting mixed up with him. hayden couldn't even call it 'mixed up'. their relationship wasn't like that. they were friends, at least he thought so. hayden didn't want to lead chelsea on in anyway. he knew what it was like to be teased. and holyshit, it was not his idea of pleasant.
he was in the middle of signing an album when he felt his phone buzz in the pocket of his jeans. he took his time before popping it out without trouble and reading chelsea's text on the screen. she was a master of words, he'd give her that. a smirk crept across his curved lips as he quickly texted back, i'll see what i can do. which meant he'd be there in no time. his curiosity was sparked a bit, what did chelsea have to show him that he had not already seen? within another twenty or so minutes, the signing died down and it was like the world wanted him to go find out what she meant by that conveniently elusive message. grabbing a water bottle and his pass, hayden headed toward the plethora of buses in the parking lot. he checked his phone before reaching the bus, figuring he'd have a couple of hours to kill before he had to be on stage. a movie with chelsea sounded pretty damn soothing at that moment, and he was relieved when he reached the hot seekers bus.
swinging open the door, he stepped up the stairs and grabbed a box of iced strawberry pop tarts off the counter and continued to the back of the bus, where she suspected she was at. and sure enough, he found her sitting indian style with her camera in her hands. hi, hayden interrupted the silence, leaning against the door post. am interrupting something? the boy nodded at her camera and plopped down next to her. a satisfied sigh escaped his lips as he closed his eyes for a couple of moments. one of the downsides to the traveling life was that he never got sleep. hayden was constantly tired, but some unseen energy seemed to fuel him. it was only when he got chance to breathe did he feel completely exhausted. flicking his eyes open, he turned his full attention to chelsea and his box of pop tarts. so, what is it you wanted to show me? he questioned, taking an innocent bite out of his snack.
